Obsessed: A Love Story Gone Off the Rails (Or Was It Ever on Them?)

“She hated to be there. It was so frustrating. But it wasn’t just the waiting part that irritated her. No, it was more than that. She was a little bit obsessed and couldn’t help but think that Paul was fucking another woman in his office. And she didn’t know where his office was.

Paul never told her.”

Ah, Obsessed. A love story, but not the kind you’d write on a Valentine’s Day card—unless your idea of romance involves jealousy, madness, and unraveling sanity.

When I wrote Obsessed, I wanted to explore the darker undercurrents of relationships—the stuff we don’t talk about at dinner parties or post on social media. You know, the obsessive thoughts, the gnawing insecurities, and the endless overthinking that turns minor suspicions into full-blown conspiracies. Obsessed is where those whispers in the back of your mind take center stage, and the results aren’t pretty.

Meet Paola: The Patron Saint of Obsessive Thinking

Paola is that woman. The one who can’t stop wondering where her boyfriend Paul goes when he’s “working late.” The one who starts connecting imaginary dots, each more damning than the last. And before you judge her too harshly, ask yourself—haven’t we all had that one moment where our insecurities started spiraling? Sure, Paola’s spiral might be more of a free fall into madness, but hey, she’s relatable in her own chaotic way.

What makes Paola compelling (to me, at least) is that she isn’t some cartoonish villain plotting revenge. She’s painfully human. Her jealousy and obsession don’t come from nowhere; they’re fueled by Paul’s secrecy, her own insecurities, and, let’s face it, a society that romanticizes toxic love.

The Fine Line Between Love and Madness

Writing Obsessed was my way of answering a question I’ve always been intrigued by: When does love become obsession? At what point does caring too much turn into something destructive? And how much of that transformation is internal versus external?

For Paola, the line isn’t just blurry—it’s practically nonexistent. Her fixation on Paul’s imagined infidelity consumes her, and as the story progresses, we see how far she’s willing to go to uncover the truth. But here’s the kicker: truth isn’t always what we expect, and in Paola’s case, it might be worse than her wildest fears.

A Thriller Without the Car Chases (But Plenty of Drama)

Don’t expect Obsessed to feature high-speed pursuits or masked killers lurking in the shadows. This is a psychological thriller, where the real terror lies in the mind. The suspense isn’t about what will happen; it’s about how far Paola will go and whether she’ll find what she’s looking for—or something that shatters her even more.

Why I Wrote It

Like most of my stories, Obsessed started with a single thought: “What if your worst suspicions turned out to be true?” From there, it snowballed into this exploration of obsession, secrecy, and the fragile threads holding relationships together.

I also wanted to challenge myself as a writer. Could I take a character like Paola—someone deeply flawed, sometimes irrational—and make readers empathize with her? Could I write a story where the villain is just as much in her head as in her reality? Turns out, I could. (At least, I think I did. You’ll have to read it and tell me.)

Why You Should Read It

Obsessed isn’t just about Paola’s journey; it’s about the darker sides of love we don’t always acknowledge. It’s about how our insecurities can morph into monsters, how our need for answers can blind us to the consequences, and how the “perfect” relationships we envy from the outside are often anything but.

So, if you’re in the mood for a story that will mess with your mind, make you question your own relationships, and remind you why communication is key (seriously, just tell your partner where your damn office is!), grab a copy of Obsessed.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, and by the end, you might just find yourself peeking at your partner’s phone—not that I condone such behavior, of course.

Obsessed is available now on Amazon. Dive into the madness, and let Paola take you on a journey that will leave you questioning the fine line between love and lunacy.
